Windows 10 file explorer slow to open quick access free. How to Fix Windows 10 Quick Access Not Working? [MiniTool News]

I just got a brand new PC about a week ago, and it's working fantastically; it's just a two-in-one Dell that has Windows 10, and is very mobile. It's exactly what I need for school, which is exactly what I need to use it for. That green bar at the top where the file locations are usually shown runs extremely slow, getting slower and slower until it eventually stops about halfway through the cancel button or refresh.

This seems to only be happening to the "This PC" and "Quick Access", however sometimes the Control Panel also decides to just be completely blank.

I have tried pretty much everything else: Safe mode, clean boot, moving files around, etc. The only game I have installed on this computer is Prison Architect, and the rest is just Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and such, so a complete factory reset is fine with me if that would solve this issue. All I want to know is if I can do anything to solve the problem besides that. Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. I'm unfamiliar with the wormhole switch does it create any new folders in the Navigation Pane or on the Desktop?

From the quick search I just did, it sounds possible that it uses namespace extensions. Eventually I found the service that was causing the problems with file explorer. The service is called Windows search and once disabled it restored functionality to file explorer.

The search function in file explorer works but the search in the taskbar doesn't. Type msconfig and hit ok or enter 3. Click Services 4. Navigate to Windows search you can sort the list in descending alphabetical order 5. Uncheck tickbox 6. Click apply then ok 7. Select to restart now. Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community. Search the community and support articles Windows Windows 10 Search Community member.

Zac Silver. I really need this computer to work, so please try and help quickly. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I have the same question Report abuse. Details required :. Cancel Submit. Also if it helps, this did seem to happen after I used a Wormhole Switch from j5create, but I can't be sure if that's when it started.

But I don't see why it would be that Wormhole Switch if it worked on all my other computers that I used it with. Thanks for your feedback. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. Keith A.

In reply to Zac Silver's post on December 23, You saw no improvement in Safe Mode??? Found this on another site and fixed the problem for me: "After going through enabling startup services groups at the time and restarting the computer everytime!
